We went to the Berlin wall on our tour. It was also quite a cool stop. It was constructed by the German Democratic Republic (GDR, East Germany). The Construction started on 13 August 1961. The wall cut off the complete West Berlin from the REST OF THE WORLD! There was the main wall and another barrier on the East Berlin side. In between the two walls was called the death strip. The wall is more than 140 km long and stood there for about 28 years coming down on November 9 1989.
